The thermocromic design project
The ThermochromicDesignProject is about translating the possibilities of changing coloures into an expedient design. Therefore it is important to create new aesthetics, which fully use the abilities of this new material. Thus, our project is particularly about thermochromic design and the usage of thermochromic colours in an aesthetic context. This includes a lot of researching and thinking, be it to create new aesthetics or just to expand the old ones.
As a basic we will tailor a white dress painted with black colours, which are both, thermochromic and normal ones. A hip belt will have a built in microprocessor able to disperse electricity(=heat) through different wires. Like this parts of the black print will change to white, causing a certain movement, which is the main theme of our design.
What we need:
- White cloth (stefan designed a really fine dress, and he allready bought the material, i think about 20 €)
- black colour(thermochromic and normal one, ) did we get on the 4. nov ?
- microchip (about 20€) a friend of us has a shop with this stuff, so it´s very cheap
The illustration of the dress is wonderful. I am looking forward to the cut of the dress.
Check out Angel Chung’ current collection where she is using thermochromic inks; however, the change is only effected by the wearer’s temperature fluctuations.
