heat

November 21, 2006

concept
Heat is a dynamic painting which plays with the fact, that fire is the most dangerous enemy to every painting. Focusing on that the audience is invited to burn the frame with a lighter. The initial flame triggers the transformation of the content by distributing heat all over the canvas.

a bit of “a making of the Luminex project”

November 9, 2006

Some images from making of the Luminex project.

Inside of the blowing interface .
Input from the heat sensor is processed in microcontroler (ATTINY26) and PWM is produced to control the LED light.

This is how the magic blowing interface looks like at the end.

The thermocromic design project

November 2, 2006

this is how it could look like, maybe. The thermocromic design project

The ThermochromicDesignProject is about translating the possibilities of changing coloures into an expedient design. Therefore it is important to create new aesthetics, which fully use the abilities of this new material. Thus, our project is particularly about thermochromic design and the usage of thermochromic colours in an aesthetic context. This includes a lot of researching and thinking, be it to create new aesthetics or just to expand the old ones.

As a basic we will tailor a white dress painted with black colours, which are both, thermochromic and normal ones. A hip belt will have a built in microprocessor able to disperse electricity(=heat) through different wires. Like this parts of the black print will change to white, causing a certain movement, which is the main theme of our design.

What we need:

- White cloth (stefan designed a really fine dress, and he allready bought the material, i think about 20 €)
- black colour(thermochromic and normal one, ) did we get on the 4. nov ?
- microchip (about 20€) a friend of us has a shop with this stuff, so it´s very cheap

New project plan 2

October 31, 2006

Title: Everyday Inventory Bag for Kids

A belt bag for Kids
When the kids put the bag around the hips and lock the closing the eye of the shark starts to glow.

For the Kids this could visualize something like their stuff is protected by the shark, but the lights (maybe in an advanced version of the bag with more than one LED) could also be used to protect the kids in the twilight or darkness on the streets.

Things I need:

  • conductive yarn, cunductive fabric (optional)
  • velcro, buttons or a belt buckle
  • fabrics
  • LEDs
  • battery & batteryholder

New project plan

October 31, 2006

concept:

jojeste (Jona Hoier, Jeldrik Schmuch, Stefan Kainbacher)

a fabric painted with heat sensitive ink is placed into a frame.
a dynamo that is combined with a wheel is connected to a wire-image that is placed behind the fabric.
If someone is turning the wheel the dynamo creates electricity that is flowing through the wire that is producing heat wich let the ink on the fabric changing its color and makes the image visible.

In a further step we want to have several images that will crate some kind of animation controlled by switches

materials:

frame, dynamo, wheel, wire, heat sensitive ink, fabric
